Ingredients
  

For the mozzarella sticks
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese sticks Can substitute with cheddar or pepper jack.
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs Mix with panko for extra crunch.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs Use more standard crumbs if panko is unavailable.
  • 2 large eggs Can be substituted with buttermilk for an egg-free option.
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder Optional, for added flavor.
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley Optional, for added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting the mozzarella cheese sticks in half if desired for shorter pieces.
  2. In a bowl, beat the eggs and set aside.
  3. In separate plates, set up the Italian-style breadcrumbs and panko breadcrumbs.
Breading the Cheese
  1. Dip each mozzarella stick in the beaten eggs, making sure to coat completely.
  2. Roll the stick in the breadcrumbs, then dip it back into the egg, and finally roll in the breadcrumbs again for double breading.
Air Frying
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  2. Place the breaded mozzarella sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding.
  3. Spritz the sticks lightly with oil for a golden finish.
  4. Cook for 6-8 minutes, checking towards the end, until golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with marinara sauce or ranch dip.
  2. Enjoy your crispy mozzarella sticks!

Notes

Freeze mozzarella sticks before air frying to prevent cheese from oozing out. You can also freeze leftover prepared sticks for future use. Make sure they do not touch each other while freezing.
