Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Assembly
- In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
- Repeat with another layer of potatoes and the remaining ground beef.
- Pour the heavy cream evenly over the layers to cover everything.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top.
Baking
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
- Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Serving
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. This casserole can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator overnight before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) or in the microwave.
