  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  2. Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
  3. Repeat with another layer of potatoes and the remaining ground beef.
  4. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the layers to cover everything.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top.
Baking
  1. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
  2. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. This casserole can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator overnight before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) or in the microwave.
