  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Choose your favorite apple variety for flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust based on sweetness of apples.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds brightness and prevents browning.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Enhances the flavor of the apples.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Crisp Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar Use dark brown sugar for richer flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 stick of butter.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the peeled and sliced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and salt. Stir the mixture until the apples are well-coated.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and softened butter. Use your fingers or a fork to mix until the topping looks crumbly.
  5. Spread the topping evenly over the apple mixture.
Baking
  1. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
  2. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serving
  1. Enjoy warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!

Notes

For extra crunch, lightly toast the oats before combining. Feel free to add spices like nutmeg or vanilla extract for a unique twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze for 3 months.
