Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, beat together the softened butter, buttermilk, and eggs until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- In another bowl, combine the crumble topping ingredients: flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter, mixing until crumbly.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the cake batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, microwave individual slices for 20-30 seconds or place in a preheated oven for 10 minutes at 350°F.
