Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni Cook according to package instructions.
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese You can mix with other cheese varieties if desired.
  • 2 cups milk Whole or low-fat milk works well.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Use unsalted butter for controlled seasoning.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season according to personal preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. Boil the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (usually 8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Cheese Sauce: In the same pot, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, pour in the milk and stir occasionally until it's heated through but not boiling.
  3. Add the Cheese: Gradually stir in the shredded cheddar cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Combine and Season: Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until the pasta is well-coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve: Pour the creamy mac and cheese into bowls, and if you like, add a sprinkle of extra cheese or your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

Notes

To enhance the dish, consider adding cooked vegetables or mixing in different cheeses. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of milk.
