Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with a tablespoon of sugar and set them aside to release their juices.
Mixing the Batter
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and the remaining sugar together until fluffy.
- Gradually fold in the melted butter, and then gently mix in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until just combined.
- Gently fold the apples into the batter until evenly distributed.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth out the top.
- Bake in your preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy!
Notes
For a delicious twist, serve with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Can also be drizzled with caramel sauce.
