Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 10 pieces eggs Large eggs are recommended.
  • 2 cups milk Whole milk adds creaminess.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Your choice of cheese.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Vegetables
  • 10 ounces frozen or fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
Bread
  • 6 cups cubed bread Preferably stale to absorb moisture.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. In a greased casserole dish, layer the cubed bread evenly. Sprinkle the chopped spinach, diced bell peppers, and diced tomatoes over the bread.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the layered veggies and bread. Gently press down on the layers to ensure everything is soaked in the egg mixture.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top. Cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (about 8 hours).
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap and bake the casserole for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

You can substitute vegetables and cheese to suit your taste. Ensure to use stale bread for the best texture.
