Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith are perfect!) Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for better flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Helps to enhance flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adjust spicing as desired.
For the oat topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted) For a buttery flavor.
  • 1 pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon. Toss well until all the apple slices are coated.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and melted butter. Stir until it resembles a crumbly mixture.
Assembly
  1. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the top, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden-brown.
  2. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy it warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For enhancing flavor, mix sweet and tart apples. For a crunchier topping, add chopped nuts to the oat mixture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
