Ingredients

For the Truffle Base
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon zest of 1 orange Add extra for more flavor.
  • 1 cup vanilla wafer crumbs
For the Chocolate Coating
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Milk or dark depending on preference.
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil Used for melting the chocolate.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
  2. Gradually fold in the vanilla wafer crumbs until the mixture is well-blended. The mixture should hold together nicely; if it's too soft, add a bit more crumbs.
  3. Cover the mixture and place it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to help it firm up for rolling.
  4. Once chilled, use your hands to roll small amounts of the mixture into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Coating the Truffles
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Heat in 30-second increments, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off. Place the coated truffles back on the parchment paper.
  3. Allow the chocolate coating to set at room temperature, or place them in the fridge for quicker results. Once set, they’re ready to be enjoyed.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. These truffles freeze well for up to three months. Let them soften at room temperature before enjoying.
